Colt Firearms Company began its life back in 1836 with Samuel Colt's first US Patent for his first firearm and went on to build his first factory. One of the first firearms produced by Colt was the Colt First Ring Lever rifle in 1836 followed by the Colt Paterson revolver in 1837. It was the first commercial repeating firearm that employed a cylinder that rotated with each pull of the hammer.
