The Colt King Cobra 357Mag/38Spl with its 3" barrel introduces a number of thoughtful improvements to the classic design. Because the new King Cobra was intended to be a carry gun, it uses a heavy duty stainless steel barrel for strength and corrosion resistance. A one piece, full-length underlug barrel with recessed crown mitigates recoil and protects the ejector rod. Target acquisition comes through a removable patridge style brass bead front sight and integral rear notch. Colt has chosen a leaf spring action to reduce stacking and produce a smooth trigger pull with a crisp break in both double or single action mode. Safety is not an option, so the King Cobra uses a transfer bar safety which prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. The King Cobra is surprisingly managable to shoot even the hotter 357 magnum rounds despite its relatively light weight thanks in part to its balance and the use of Hogue Overmolded grips. The King Cobra secures a new place in the legendary heritage that makes Colt double-action revolvers some of the hottest collectible firearms today.
