RIFLES

Prohibited:

Semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine and one or more of the following features:

• Pistol Grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon
• Thumbhole stock
• Folding or telescoping stock
• Grenade launcher or flare launcher
• Flash suppressor
• Forward Pistol Grip
• All .50BMG rifles

Permitted:

.22 caliber rifles with an attached tubular magazine are permitted.

SHOTGUNS

Prohibited:

• Semi-automatic shotguns with one or more of the following
• Folding or telescoping stock
• A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the firearm
• Thumbhole stock
• Vertical handgrip
• Has the ability to accept a detachable magazine
• Shotguns with revolving cylinders:
• Franchi SPAS 12 and LAW 12
• Striker 12. The Streetsweeper type S/S Inc. SS/12

HANDGUNS

Prohibited:

Washington D.C. specifically lists handguns which are eligible for registration here.

• Semi-automatic handguns with a detachable magazine and one or more of the following features:
• Threaded barrel
• Second handgrip
• Barrel shroud
• Magazine that attaches to the firearm outside the pistol grip

ACCESSORIES/AMMUNITION

Prohibited:

• Magazines exceeding 10 rounds
• .50 BMG ammunition
• Collapsible/adjustable stocks
• Stun Guns and TASERs
• Defense Sprays
• Batons
• Threaded barrels
• Air guns (pneumatic, spring, or BB) firing projectile exceeding .18” (i.e. .22 cal. Prohibited) Ammunition Qualifier: For the purchase of ammunition, the purchaser must present a valid firearms registration card.

LAW ENFORCEMENT EXEMPTIONS

Law Enforcement (federal, state, or local) may acquire prohibited articles delineated above only when the agent is active, on-duty, acting within the scope of duties, and in possession of a statement on letterhead from the head of the agency stating that the item is to be used i8n the officer’s or agent’s official duties.
