Massachusetts State Restrictions

RIFLES

Permitted:

• Bolt action rifles
• Pump action rifles
• Lever action rifles
• .22LR rifles with fixed tubular magazines have no round-count restrictions.

Prohibited:

• Semi-automatic rifles.

SHOTGUNS

Permitted:

• Pump action shotguns
• Over / under shotguns
• Single-shot shotguns
• Side-by-side shotguns

Prohibited:

• No semi-automatic / defense / box-fed shotguns.

HANDGUNS

Permitted:

• Only handguns on the Massachusetts Approved Handgun Roster are permitted

ACCESSORIES/AMMUNITION

Prohibited:

• No magazines exceeding 10 rounds
• No ammunition or ammunition components. No stun guns or TASERs
• No defense sprays

LEO EXEMPTIONS

There are currently no exemptions to the restrictions for individual Law Enforcement Officers except for purchasing stun guns, TASERs, and defense sprays.
