3M Peltor

3M Peltor is a manufacturer of hearing protection equipment. 3M began in 1902 and the goal of the company was to mine for corundum, a mineral used in making sandpaper and grinding wheels. What they actually found was not Corundum but rather a low-grade mineral called anorthosite. While finding this mineral, which almost put the company under, some persisted in finding ways to adapt the mineral with other properties and materials and apply them to products, which in the end helped gain trust of investors and built up the company's sales. 3M produces a wide variety of products that are used in the home, schools, business, hospitals, and other industries.
