The S&W Model 442 Engraved revolver chambered in 38 Special +P is an enhanced version of the popular J-Fame revolver for concealed carry with scroll engravings on frame and cylinder.  Housing a carbon steel barrel and cylinder for durability and strength, the double action only Model 442 is always ready for use. Designed for concealed carry with a snag free internal hammer and heavier, accident resistant double action trigger the 442 is always ready for action. Low profile black ramp front and fixed rear sights provide a snag resistant conventional sight picture. The Model 442 makes use of an  aluminum alloy frame for reduced weight and ease of carry. Light weight is no excuse for reduced performance so Smith & Wesson built the Model 442 Engraved revolver to handle continuous use of 38 Special +P ammunition. Smith & Wesson J-Frame revolvers have earned a reputation for durability, reliability, and performance since 1950. In fact the J-Frame is considered to be one of the most popular, small-frame, defense revolver on the market. This model deletes the internal lock for those who do not need the added security.
