The S&W Performance Center Model 642 revolver chambered in 38 Special +P is an enhanced version of the popular J-Fame revolver for concealed carry. This model features a chrome plated, polished trigger and custom synthetic grips with wood inserts. The Performance Center Model 642 combines PC tuned action with a cylinder cut for the use of moon clips for faster loading. Housing a stainless steel barrel and carbon steel cylinder for durability and strength, the double action only Model 642 is always ready for use. Designed for concealed carry with a snag free internal hammer and heavier, accident resistant double action trigger the 642 is always ready for action. Low profile black ramp front and fixed rear sights provide a snag resistant conventional sight picture. Light weight is no excuse for reduced performance so Smith & Wesson built the Performance Center Model 642 to handle continuous use of 38 Special +P ammunition.
